In
Tunisia, O'Connor
Associates conducted stack sampling as part of an environmental impact assessment
for a steel mill. Levels of nitrogen oxides,
sulphur dioxide, total hydrocarbons, carbon dioxide, carbon
monoxide, heavy metals and particulates were measured in the
offgases from a blast furnace. Results of the analyses were
modelled to predict the distribution of the various
contaminants in surrounding areas, and a risk assessment was
undertaken to evaluate potential environmental concerns.
Stack sampling was also conducted by O'Connor Associates
as part of a continuous emission monitoring program for a
manufacturer of personal care products. Among other parameters,
levels of nitrogen oxides, sulphur dioxide, total hydrocarbons,
carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide and particulates were measured
in the plant emissions and compared to regulatory criteria.
Compliance was assessed based on air dispersion modelling and
point-of-impingement concentration predictions conducted by O'Connor
Associates.
